In the field of business administration, dealing with aspects of Islamic banking has a long tradition. This naturally applies in particular to banking management theory, but researchers in the field of international business have also dealt with the topic in different ways. Despite the long study of the subject in business administration, there are still a number of research gaps, and new questions have arisen, above all as a result of the significant increase in the internationalization of Islamic banking in recent years. Ayhan Yildiz also locates his work in this context. It aims at challenges and the implementation of Islamic banking in the German market. On the one hand, this raises the conceptual question of the integration and adaptability of the established financial system in Germany as well as the adaptability of financial processes based on Islamic principles. Secondly, the question of the possible growing relevance of the Islamic banking system as an alternative system is raised in view of the still fragile situation of the established and conventional banking system in Germany and Europe. On the one hand, the author is dealing with a question that is relevant from an academic point of view, but on the other hand with a problem area that has recently become increasingly important for practice in the service sector.
