Implicit theories about employees and managers

When we think of leadership, do we have a certain idea or a certain "image in our heads" of what leadership is and how we recognize (good) leadership. For example, a manager should make decisions, be motivating or set goals for employees. So we expect certain qualities and behaviors from leaders. But what image do managers actually have of employees? What assumptions do managers associate with (good) employees and what do they expect from employees? Ultimately, the manager and the employee(s) are involved in the management process, so that both sides should also be examined in more detail. Addressing and empirically examining these assumptions in relation to both sides - executives and employees - is the core of this book. It is to be classified in the context of psychological leadership research and illuminates the topic of leadership from a socio-cognitive perspective, whereby employees in particular move more into the focus of consideration. For this purpose, three empirical studies (2 field studies, 1 laboratory study) were carried out with almost 700 study participants (managers, employees, students), in which new research designs were used in an innovative way. The results of the work enrich the field of leadership research and their implications for practice are comprehensively presented through the extensive practical experience of the author. The book is not only aimed at practitioners with an interest in science, but also at all managers, employees, HR managers, trainers and coaches who are open to a change of perspective (especially with regard to leadership) and are looking for new ideas for their everyday work.
